In short: a private fishing day in Coiba costs $1,500 per boat, or $1,700 per boat to Jicarita and Jicaron at the far south of the park. Up to 4 anglers fish for 6 to 8 hours, depending on the weather. Included: the captain, a fishing mate, full tackle and lures, ice, water and accident insurance. Your fishing licence is covered, so there is no paperwork. Food, live bait, tips and the MiAmbiente park fee are not included.

Screaming Reels in the Open Pacific

Coiba sits where deep water meets reefs and islands, and the bait and the predators know it. One minute you are trolling past a rocky point in the morning light, the next the rod bends double and somebody yells “fish on!”. Your captain reads the birds, the currents and the color of the water, and moves the boat until the action starts. Anyone on board can fish: besides the skipper, a fishing mate rigs the lines, coaches beginners and gets the fish to the boat.

Yellowfin Tuna

Fast, deep and stubborn. When a school is feeding under the birds, the whole boat goes quiet, then every reel screams at once.

Wahoo

One of the fastest fish in the ocean. The first run can strip line faster than you can think.

Dorado (Mahi-Mahi)

Jumps, colors and acrobatics around floating logs and weed lines. Pure fun for first-timers and veterans alike.

Near the rocks and the islands, the fight turns into a tug of war: pull hard before it reaches the structure.

Two Ways to Fish Coiba

Coiba · $1,500 per boat

The classic day: points, seamounts and islands across the park, with the route chosen by the season and the latest reports. Tuna, wahoo, dorado and snapper are the usual targets.

Jicarita & Jicaron · $1,700 per boat

The far south of the park, open to the full Pacific. A longer run that often becomes the best fishing day of the trip, with a real chance at bigger fish, marlin included.

Fishing Licence: Already Covered

Everyone who fishes in Panama needs a sport fishing licence, unless they fish with an authorized company like us. Our captains’ tourism licence covers the temporary licences of our guests, so you don’t have to do any paperwork.

Park entrance: every visitor pays the Coiba National Park fee to MiAmbiente, separately from the boat. Children under 12 don’t pay the entry, but they must still be registered on MiAmbiente’s platform. How it works, step by step: Coiba park fee explained.

We Release Most of What We Catch

We practice sustainable sport fishing: we keep a fish for dinner when it makes sense, release most of the catch and release every threatened species. Coiba is a national park, and we want its fish to be here next season, and the one after that.

  • Non-anglers in the group? Our private Coiba Island tour is built for snorkeling and beaches.
